How It Works

What The Past Attendees Are Saying

“All the support and resources that I was provided from Hire MI Vet, from the HUD-VASH program. It’s the reason why I am where I am today.”

Monique Beck

“I am really thankful to be able to rebuild my savings and not have to live paycheck to paycheck, but it’s more than that,” Jett said. “I can truly say that I wake up every day looking forward to work, and I’m grateful to the VA team for not letting me give up so that I could get where I am today.”

Tom Jett

Hiring Event FAQs

FAQs

It is beneficial to know something about each employer you plan to speak with. Research companies’ websites and find out what goals they may have.
Please know that each employer may have a different expectation. We recommend that job seekers attend our hiring events in business casual to business attire. The hiring event should be treated as an on-the-spot interview, so dress to impress!
To attend the hiring event, we recommend arriving at 9:45am to check-in and begin speaking with employers at 10:00am. You are also welcome to come any time up until 12:00pm if you cannot make it out early.
There is absolutely no cost for jobseekers to register for or attend a Hire MI Vet event.
Employer lists can be found on our website once the employer registers. The lists will also be made available in a jobseeker packet at the time of check-in at the event.

Who We Are

Hire MI Vet promotes the development of community employment opportunities and partnerships to prevent Veteran unemployment. We seek to ensure that a range of employment-related services are accessible to all Veterans who are unemployed, underemployed, or at risk of becoming unemployed.

We maintain a website and Facebook page that informs job-seekers and employers of important developments.  We schedule events that help job-seekers, employers, social service providers and educators learn what is available to help them do their part to reduce unemployment.
